Workshop helps families grieve

Alzheimer’s society hosting free workshop for families and caregivers

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. has created a new workshop to help people at a difficult time.

The society’s Grieving Losses During the Dementia Journey free two-hour workshop will be held in Nanaimo at the end of the month.

“The dementia journey requires ongoing adjustment to many changes that occur through the early, middle and late stages of the disease,” notes a society press release. “Grief is the natural and necessary process to all of these changes that involve loss.”

The workshop will explore the loss and grief issues that come from dementia caregiving. Participants will also receive suggestions for coping with losses.

The workshop will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. March 29 at the Nanaimo Alzheimer Resource Centre at 200-1585 Bowen Road.
