Blankets help provide comfort
Evelyn McNabb, of Project Linus, brought some of her favourite people to the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation office when she dropped off 45 brand new quilts for children facing medical crisis at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Four of her nine children helped McNabb deliver the most recent handcrafted donation, but they have also helped their mother wash, bundle, and tag each quilt for the last 10 years.
The McNabbs started a Vancouver Island Project Linus Chapter in 2004 as a way to honour their daughter Emily, who passed away in 1998 at the age of three. The most recent batch will be shared between the pediatric unit, emergency department, and neonatal unit. For more information, please visit www.projectlinusvancouverisland.weebly.com.
