Gut and brain health focus of event

Nanaimo naturopath Dr. John Yim will offer tips for a healthy gut and brain, during a fundraising event this May.

In celebration of Naturopathic Medicine Week, Yim and Island Natural Market are hosting Healthy Gut/Healthy Brain, a two-hour talk to highlight the connection between the brain and gut health.

Yim has been a naturopathic physician for two decades and specializes in natural gut health and its connection to mood and behaviour disorders. During his event, people will learn about how the gut functions as their second brain, the importance of bacteria in their stomach and ways to feed the brain.

The talk takes place at the Beban Park Social Centre Wednesday (May 7) between 7-9 p.m. The suggested donation is $10.

Money raised will go to Naturopaths Without Borders, a not-for-profit that provides naturopathic health care to impoverished communities.
