Charity barbecue raises cash for Crohn's and colitis research

M&M Meat Shops wants everyone to pay a little to eat a lot at the 26th annual charity barbecue day to help Crohn’s and Colitis Canada find a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

One in every 150 Canadians suffers from these lifelong diseases result in pain, urgent bathroom visits, hospital stays and multiple surgeries, and lower quality of life overall.

M&M Meat Shops’ franchisees, staff and volunteers across Canada will man their grills Saturday (May 10) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to meet this year's fundraising goal of $1 million.

M&M Meat Shops' Nanaimo outlet is located at  6683 Mary Ellen Dr.

Supporters will receive a hamburger or hot dog, a drink and a bag of chips for a minimum donation of $3.
