United Way grant applications soon available

Nanaimo area non-profit groups can apply next month for a grant from United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island to help operate a local program that supports the community.

The group’s 2012 campaign raised nearly $700,000 for the central Island and now the agency is looking to give grants to other local charities.

The agency focuses funding in three key areas: all that kids can be, poverty to possibility and healthy people, strong communities.

Funding applications will be available online at www.uwcnvi.ca starting April 1. Local charities will have until April 30 to submit an application and someone from each organization must attend a training session in Outcome Measurement to apply.

Half-day training sessions take place in Nanaimo on March 27-28 at Beban Park Social Centre from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Up to two people from a charity can attend. Please RSVP to impact@uwcnvi.ca.
