Orange sales let kids play sports
Oranges at halftime is a common sight at sports events involving children.
Thrifty Foods is promoting a different benefit of oranges for kids with its annual Orange you Glad you Helped a Kid fundraiser.
Until March 5, Thrifty Foods is donating $1 from the sale of every two-kilogram bag of Buck Brand navel oranges to dozens of KidSport chapters in B.C. including KidSport Nanaimo.
“In our community, financial barriers to organized sport are a reality for many families,” says KidSport Nanaimo chairwoman Liza Taylor. “The Thrifty Foods fundraiser will enable children and youth to access physical activity that provides a lifelong opportunity for self expression, goal setting, dedication, positive thinking and increased self confidence.”
Thrifty Foods stores in Nanaimo are at Port Place shopping centre, Brooks Landing shopping centre and Longwood Station.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life in our communities, the in-store campaign will help hundreds of children join organized sport activities like soccer, hockey and karate in the next year,” said Dores. “With a goal to send as many kids as possible into a season of sport, for the next three weeks”
