Island Crisis Care Soceity – Volunteers are needed for Coldest Night of the Year event Feb. 23. Duties available are registration team, food team, set-up and other support downtown at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Please call Michelle Authier at 250-585-2577 or e-mail


Skana Community Resources – A volunteer musical entertainer is needed to provide musical entertainment (play instrument /sing) for adults with disabilities two or three hours per month. A criminal record check required. Please call Teresa Battle at 250-713-2754 or e-mail


Black History Month – Nanaimo African Heritage Society needs volunteers  to help organize activities for Black History Month in February. Please contact Shalema Gantt at 250-729-9332 or e- mail


Errington Therapeutic Riding Association – Adult volunteers are required April 2 and continue every Tuesday and Wednesday for 11 weeks to do sidewalk assistance.  Shifts are two or three hours on either of these days.  An orientation session for new volunteers takes place March 26.  A criminal record check is required. Hub City Cycles – Volunteers are needed to help in cycle shop. Skills in Microsoft Office and an interest in bicycles would helpful. Downtown location. Call Jawn, Justin or Tyler at 250-591-2159 or e-mail


Sierra Club Nanaimo – A volunteer events team planner is needed. If you have an interest in environmental issues and enjoy creating displays and promotions on the computer, help is required approximately three hours a month. Please contact: Carla at 250-618-5326 or e-mail


Woodgrove Senior Citizens Society – Volunteer board members (directors) are needed for a non-profit group involved with low-rental apartments for seniors and handicapped people. Please call Rose Davidson at 250-390-7464 or Dale Widdifield at 250-751-2999.


Code Dental Clinic – A volunteer reception/patient greeter is needed one or two days a week. Duties include helping manage front desk. Computer skills are required and  some knowledge of a dental office is helpful but not a must. Please call Ellen at 250-741-8168.


Central Island Youth Soccer Academy – Volunteers needed to coach youth soccer (six-10 year-olds). Please e-mail Kim at


Big Brothers/Big Sisters CVI – Volunteer drivers and swampers (six to eight people) are needed every Wednesday to help with clothing drive. A safe driving record is needed and participants must be able to lift some heavy items while collecting clothes from the community. Call 250-756-2447 or e-mail


Meals on Wheels – A volunteer driver with a valid class 5 driver’s licence is needed for meal delivery two hours per week. Training is provided. Also, a volunteer day captain is needed for four to six hours per week. Computer and organizational skills would be an asset. Please call 250-753-1300 or e-mail for either position.


Theatre One – A social media manager is required for managing Facebook and Twitter accounts and to strategize in co-operation with board of directors and marketing committee. Commitment is three to four hours per week. Resumé required. No criminal record check, but experience is necessary, as no training is provided. MS Society –  A gym assistant with the ability to assist others with gym equipment under direction of instructor is needed. Shift is two hours in the morning, two days a week for eight weeks at Nanaimo Aquatic centre. Training will be provided. Please call Cheryl at 250-722-2214 or e-mail
