Pizza lovers help food bank

If chowing down on pizza is your forté, that skill could benefit Nanaimo’s Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank.

La Cuisana Roma is hosting a pizza eating contest Saturday (Feb. 9) at 4 p.m. in Woodgrove Centre’s food court.

Contestants will be challenged to eat as many eight-inch pizzas as possible in 2.5 minutes

The grand prize winner will receive one free eight-inch pizza every week for a year.

All proceeds from the $20 registration fee go to Loaves and Fishes.

Participants and onlookers are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the food bank.

Anyone interested in taking part in the contest can register at La Cuisana Roma in the mall’s food court. For more information, please call 250-390-7606.
