APPLAUSE: Stolen birds replaced to help feed hungry
To the Editor,
Re: Theft of turkeys destined for needy families dampens holiday spirit, Dec. 15.
On Dec. 9, 2012, there was a break-in at the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 15 on Fraser Street.
Turkeys destined for hampers were stolen. These are items the Eagles give away each year as part if its charitable work.
Thankfully, several individuals in our community helped replace the stolen items.
On behalf of the members of FOE No. 15, I extend a sincere thank you for the generous contributions.
The Eagles is a non-profit organization established in 1899. The Nanaimo chapter raises funds for various groups by carrying out activities throughout the year including golf tournaments, music trivia and live entertainment.
