Irene Peters, a resident of Malaspina Gardens in Nanaimo, celebrates her 100th birthday Friday (Feb. 8). Born and raised in Fernie, B.C., Peters, her husband, Gus, and three children moved to Nanaimo in 1956. She is blessed with nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. There will be many family members and friends, both local and from a distance, to help celebrate her special day.
