Cookbook helps seniors lodge
Staff at Nanaimo Travellers Lodge have been cooking up a fundraising idea for the last year and the fruits of their labour are now available.
The group recently got their cookbook, Our Best to You, published; a compilation of more than 340 recipes, contributed by NTL staff, includes mouth-watering recipes for appetizers, main courses and desserts.
The lodge last published a cookbook in the 1970s and registered nurse Fern Feduk decided to compile a new one.
Feduk and fellow employees Linda Reetham-Clayton, Suzette Allarie, Kim Brennan and Mary Beth Wells worked over the last year to make the idea a reality. Staff were asked to contribute their favourite recipe for the book – dedicated to people suffering dementia.
The cookbook is now on sale at the lodge for $10, with half going toward the residents activity department and half to the staff fund.
To purchase a cookbook, please visit Nanaimo Travellers Lodge at 1298 Nelson St., call 250-758-4676 or visit www.nanaimotravellers.com.
Nanaimo Travellers Lodge is a non-profit, registered charity. It is the only facility in central Vancouver Island dedicated to dementia care.
