APPLAUSE: Businesses aid in tree removal

To the Editor,

When a beautiful redwood tree towering in the backyard at Nanaimo Community Hospice had to come down recently, Buckin’ Billy Ray’s Tree Service answered the call.

Within days Billy Ray had recruited Westhaul Crane Services and DBL Disposal which donated their services.

The giant tree was skillfully felled,  maneuvered between the two houses, carefully placed in the DBL Disposal bin, and hauled away under the watchful eyes of neighbours and passersby.

Three huge sections, each weighing more than 200 kilograms, will be milled into lumber. One branch will be transformed into a carved flute that will provide the comfort of music to hospice programs.

We are truly blessed by the continued support of individuals and businesses in our community. We couldn’t do this work without them.
